Helical Pier and Concrete Beam Foundation

The PTAA campus expansion consisted of a 60' x 106' premanufactured building, which was delivered, placed and finalized within months. Due to the presence of water at shallow depths and poor bearing soils, the building foundation could not be directly placed over the native soil. ELX designed a series of steel reinforced concrete beams supported by helical piers, which extended to an adequate bearing strata deep below the ground surface. The building is supported by the concrete beams and attached to multiple soil anchors. ELX also provided quality control observations, as well as consulting services throughout the construction process.
